Letter to the Urban Pastor !
“Vision Fuels Passion”
Passion is a powerful force that propels a dream forward. Passion is a powerful emotion that produces boundless enthusiasm for a vision such as a:
New Church
Family Life Center
Expanding Facilities
Adding Staff
Reduction of Debt
However, many Churches simply start a building fund by announcing that next Sunday we will start putting money away for a Building Fund and ask members to give. The members give for a period of time, but at the end the Church ends up going to the bank borrowing hundreds of thousands dollars to continue the project.
In my years as a Fund Director for the National and International Organization called Church of God Ministries Inc. I discovered the use of a PROFESSIONAL CAPITAL CAMPAIGN PROGRAM along with the financial institution gave churches a bigger bang for their dollar.
The concept of the Capital Campaign itself is a three-year program of faith pledging which accents Christian enlistment and lay involvement. I also noticed that there are very few African American services assisting the Church with the tools needed to grow beyond their present four walls.
I have put together a very simple proven step by step process that affords everyone in the congregation to be involved in giving to the program. It presents a challenge in Christian Stewardship, thus providing an opportunity for people to deepen their commitment to Christ through giving.
The first step is to be willing for a Church to set aside at least eight weeks, consisting of three two hour weekly training sessions for your leaders and five weekly meeting for the Campaign itself that leads to three years of Involvement, Commitment and Follow-through.
May the Lord Richly Bless You
